Sounds like you’ve been listening to another golf podcast that nailed this comparison at the start of June
Scottie Shuffle = Sombor Shuffle
Not bad for how mistake free and consistent both are, but I can’t get behind Scottie being compared to a guy nicknamed ‘The Big Fundamental’.
Jokic’s signature move is literally called the Sombor Shuffle, what more could you need?
TC’s take about Irish golf fans being too partisan for Rory was one of his worst. It’s a take that wouldn’t see the light of day if the guys had boots on the ground this week like some other golf podcasts or, say, a respected Journalist on the roster who could attend to give that perspective.
It doesn’t require thousands of dollars in travel to have someone in attendance, just an ounce of awareness for someone who brings up their support of the same golfer every single week.
Just saw a stat on GC.
Of the last 33 major champions, 25 of them are from the US. 76%. Hasn’t been that high in 40 years.
Gonna play some Lee Greenwood in celebration.
Proceeds to lose Ryder Cup 16-12
Maybe the RC needs a jacket or cool trophy.
I only listen to NLU for pro golf so I can claim it’s an original thought to me.
I’m sure others have come to the same conclusion cos it honestly just makes sense.
I thought it was crazy that DJ mentioned Popovich and no one jumped in with Tim Duncan. Both Jokic and Timmy are good comps. They have their own similarities. Jokic and Scottie are both still young enough that it may end up that Jokic/Scottie becomes the perfect comp, but for now, I agree with Pendo23 that its Timmy. They should call Scottie the “New Fundamental”
Can’t you see Scottie with the Claret Jug in hand recreating this commercial?
I think the Tim Duncan comp is a good one. Their respective excellence has a certain amount of banality to it.
I will say, off the top of my head, I can’t remember TD saying anything nearly as interesting (to me at least) than Scottie early week quotes at the British.
Was thinking about the question from Neil about the memorable shots with Scottie compared to Tiger. Though I missed peak Tiger era, I wonder if one of the reasons we tend to remember so many Tiger shots is because they’ve been replayed so often over the decades.
While I do think he has many memorable shots, even without the replays, some of his biggest are still played to this day and therefore, I think, stick in our minds more.
I’d be curious to see what this conversation could look like in 10 years when maybe Scottie’s shots are replayed more often in montages, look backs, etc.
Yeah, far more likely for Pop to give you that kind of thoughtful quote than Timmy.
